forum administration

Postby nadir » Wed Mar 23, 2011 8:30 pm

hi,
for several reasons i would like to remove anyone from any position,
but keep fsmithred as administrator
(as he is the main developer it seems to make sense, imho).

The why is easy:
i have seen lots of refracta-forums {mailing-lists, message-boards, etc} come and go.
I would like this one to stay.
I think the less people got access, the more save the board is.
It has got nothing to do with me not trusting any of you.

People who want to play with phpbb can set up a forum and do so.

If there are objections, post them here.
Please don't see it as an offense.
I simply have too much refracta-info see come and go (vanished in the dark now).
As far i see we won't have any administration to do anyway.
If so it will always be decided by all of us.

From how most of you have voted at debianuserforums it should be clear,
and i would not even need to announce this.
Obviously that is not my idea how things should be done.
So i herd u liek mudkip?

Jesus Christ. Yeah, I am a little offended.
No sweat off my balls. Do whatever you want.

Unlike you, I won't ask for my account to be deleted and throw a **** fit about it, though.

It does not look like you read why i am asking for that
(lots of boards having come and go).
If you are offended, but don't say why, i will keep it that short too.
You are fine with decisions being made without asking for it,
but not with asking before? Sounds strange.

If one wants to play with phpbb one can easily set up a board and do that.
Nothing is do be done here anyway.

What the request to get removed from the user-list of a board has got to do with pissing i don't know.
I don't agree with the way the board is run, and hence got no interest being part of it.

Besides that i can't even see any relation between the one issue and the other one.
the one issue is that i don't like the way debianuserforums will be run.
the other thing is the will to keep this board stay, after all the removals of refracta-forums/mailing-lists/etc.
I am tired of asking and writing the same things again and again. Lots of info is already gone.
So i herd u liek mudkip?

So, to get back on topic:
are there any arguments for the one way or the other way to do it?

if i understood it correct fsmithred said that he does not care neither.

I am open for suggestions.

[quote="nadir"]hi,

This would have been fine, but you continued...

So you think one of us would delete the board just because we occasionally disagree? Thanks.

People who want to play with phpbb can set up a forum and do so.

As for me, you asked me to do it. You asked me to set it up and get other settings done correctly. I didn't ask or volunteer, I did it as a favor because that's what I do for friends. I am also well-aware I can setup a board here, so telling us so is a little condescending.

Again, a statement of mistrust. I would never have said some **** like that to you.

Wait til the spambots hit. Have fun with that.

Ummm, your poll was fundamentally flawed and unclear as to it's purpose. It is possible that language barrier may be partially to blame, though.
As for that, leave it over there. I didn't come here to debate it further.

I only know of the one before this board, but it wouldn't surprise me if there were a lot more. That doesn't excuse you for implying one of us would be the cause of this one disappearing. I'm really disappointed you think so little of us.

I know about ten, perhaps more.

My first thought was that it would be nice if all users would be equal.
Hence all should be admin.
Then, after a while, i thought it is more important to make sure the board will stay.
the more admins the higher the chances something goes south.

That is why i asked in the OP what the options are.

That is everything.
It has got nothing to do with anything else.

And once again:
i did ask.
I did _not_ simply do thing
s.
I am only asking for possible ways to do it.
Obviously a forum where all users are admins is rather unusual
(all -> mharrison is moderator, cynwulf is a user right now.
How much admins do we want to add... my original idea seems to be a bit strange).

Once again:
What is the problem with asking how to go on?
Obviously we can't add one admin after the other,
obviously we don't need much admins anyway.

Asking seems to be a big problem.

Tell me someon how he would liked to be asked.
Or ask someone else.
I don't care.
