hiya, and a belated Happy New Year greeting to ya!

refractasnapshot-base_9.3.0_all.deb

/usr/share/doc/refractasnapshot-base/readme.refractasnapshot.txt
"Assumptions: The kernel you're running is the one that you will use in the snapshot. (i.e. /initrd.img)"
/usr/lib/refractasnapshot/iso/isolinux/live.cfg
"append initrd=/live/initrd.img boot=live ${netconfig_opt} union=aufs"
Which kernel are you using nowadays?
Asking this because debian has dropped aufs in favor of overlayfs, right?

/usr/lib/refractasnapshot/snapshot_exclude.list
/usr/lib/refractasnapshot/snapshot_exclude.list.defaults

- /home/*/.gvfs
This path might merit an inline comment within the conf file, or even in the readme.
IIRC (from back in the SalineOS days) this path will contain "emblem" icons applied to items within thunar as well as customization details for various other programs. The user might regret discovering these were not carried over into the snapshot.

You must remove "union=aufs" for newer kernels and use newer live-boot. Far as I know it was linux kernel =>3.18 that dropped aufs support in favour of overlayfs, Debian's live-boot stuff had to follow that. More info: post5004.html?hilit=overlayfs#p5004

Anyway, thanks for these updates.. and keeping the refracta tools maintained, despite systemd and the recent turmoil in debian-live.

Still using 3.16 here, and still trying to get everything set for the "new" stable version, only one year late. For union=aufs, I guess I could make it an optional option, similar to the popup in refracta2usb that asks if you want to add boot options, right before the menu entry gets created. Either that, or just make a newer version for the newer kernel, and lose the backward compatibility.

And then what happens next? Is the latest version of live-* the final version?

refracta-xfce-on-devuan is just about ready for an iso upload. I think gvfs is the only thing missing (no Trash, no popup removable drive icons) and that might be coming soon. It's a listed project at the devuan git.

Who knows, others seem to have picked up on it but official Debian seem to have a different agenda. Read for yourself why Daniel quit.

Some good news is just what we need.. (git url?) I hope it will be be <700MB, as good as before and that my earlier experimental xfce builds were in some way helpful.

Last snapshot was 662MB. Your earlier snapshots had some extra scripts in /usr/local/bin. I need to look at those again. The current xfce build has devuan debootstrap installed, and I think I should include instructions and a script.

It's almost as good as the last refracta. I hate the new lightdm greeter. If someone could figure out how to make it look like the old one, it would make me happy every time I log in. Oh yeah, autologin wasn't working in the live iso until I set autologin timeout to something other than zero. Weird. The config file was correctly set for autologin, but it just sat there waiting for me to log in.

Here's the link for the devuan git, with list of projects that need help. See the section for packages depending on systemd bits. It looks like nothing is happening, but over the past few months, I've noticed more packages are installable without libsystemd0.

refractasnapshot-9.3.1 is up:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/refrac ... s/testing/

Fixed a typo in 9.3.0...
Code: Select all
  * Replaced target/dev with "$work_dir"/dev, fixes failed boot.

Made some changes...
Code: Select all
  * Renamed memtest86+.bin to memtest on live media, so it works.
  * Removed "union=aufs" from boot commands. (for stretch/sid)
