I spent a little time today on the latest refractainstaller-yad. If it helps, here is a revised experimental version with all the translatable parts I can see (text, titles, buttons) marked. Most were already done. I can't guarantee it's complete nor error-free and don't have time now to do a proper diff.

Seems I'm banned from "Debian Pastezone", (I'm a "spammer"?) so I posted it elsewhere.

I generated a pot file from htrefractainstaller-yad-locales:
https://gist.github.com/fu-sen/e89d47ef ... 408d42968c

I translated Japanese again based on that pot file:

As a result, most display can be displayed in Japanese.
but part of the English remains in the output method.
You probably need some fine adjustment of the source.

Good work, balloon.

I posted a revised experimental refracta-installer-yad script, with some more missing text strings marked. I think that's about all of them (no guarantees, it's untested). Also there is a ".pot" template, a mostly-complete Spanish translation (unverified, untested) and a diff for the latest official refractainstaller-yad ..

http://exegnulinux.net/refracta/experim ... nslations/

Any translations would need to keep formatting and special characters for yad dialogs exactly the same (e.g. \ \t \n). It's possible the entire script could fail otherwise..

I know there are Refracta users who do not use English as a first language. It would be interesting to hear from some of you, to get an idea of how much this is worth doing. If there is a demand, it would be better to have the official scripts marked in future versions (if fsr wants to do that) than numerous "unofficial" ones floating around.

dzz,

By "marked" do you mean all the dollar signs added? If so, I've been adding them in the last couple of versions of all the tools to replace all the ones that got lost in previous edits. I'll keep doing that. And I'll look at your corrections to see what I missed.

Don't do refractasnapshot yet. I've got another version that I haven't released yet. I can do that soon.

Yes, plus the 2-line header. Use the diff just for a guide to save time if you want, it's just meant to help get things started. Maybe there are some errors. The yad titles and buttons were also marked.

I'll use your diffs as a guide. I'm working on 9.2 now. Do I need to add pot, po or mo files to the package? If so, I'll post the scripts on git before I package them so balloon can do the translations. (It should not be much different from the version you're working on.)

Also, if window_title="something" and I make it window_title=$"something", do I also need to make --title="$window_title" into --title=$"$window_title" or is that just being redundant?

It's probably too soon to add translation files to the main package while nothing is properly tested. They could be packaged separately anyway.

if window_title="something" and I make it window_title=$"something", do I also need to make --title="$window_title" into --title=$"$window_title" or is that just being redundant?

Probably not redundant, probably doesn't matter if it is. The translation changes (or not) how a marked text string displays, not normally actual script variables.

https://github.com/fsmithred/refractainstaller-gui

refractainstaller, refractainstaller-yad and refractainstaller-uefi are ready for translation. Pretty sure all the dollar signs are in place.

The other scripts have the dollar signs but don't have the TEXTDOMAIN variables. I don't know how ambitious you are (balloon). I'll add those if you want.

I haven't packaged them yet, but this will be version 9.2.1. You can run these scripts if you have 9.1.9 installed. (not all the necessary files are on github yet.)

Added repos for refractasnapshot-base and refractasnapshot-gui, scripts ready for language translation.
Also added the TEXTDOMAIN lines to refractainstaller (cli script). I guess I forgot those before.
