Hi fsmithred,

Yes, I have considered it, and I keep forgetting to ask you to help me with it. Thanks!

Will this be open for all to see? Out of curiosity, I'd like to see how it's done too.

I added successfully d-i to TriOS and also to Refracta, but something fails in the case of Refracta after the grub-install-udeb. On the other hand, in the case of TriOS (upgraded from debian to devuan) some packages existing in the live session evaporate during the installation (mousepad, rsync...). I will let you know for sure about it ;)

I approached it the other way, and I added Refracta to a Devuan netinstall iso. It was easy, and it seems to work, but I'm not sure it's the right thing to do. People might be confused by directions like "If you want lvm or raid, use d-i, and if you want the beautiful Devuan desktop theme, use refractainstaller."
