I do not understand this technology very well but I would say probably not because embedded images are a different animal. Devuan has a list of various embedded img. But I'm not seeing orange pi. Must be very new. Ping parazyd on freenode #devuan to ask if there is an image for the orange pi.

This just from parazyd:
<parazyd> he should ask me yes
<parazyd> i haven't made an image for the orangepi yet

Whether refracta tools can deal with embedded images is an unanswered question.
May the FORK be with you!

Orange pi h3 here. The refracta iso's are only for i386 and amd64. The pi is armhf. You can't use live-boot on this.

What I did was take a base Debian image, purge it of and blacklist *systemd*, convert to Devuan. Configured apt to not install "recommends" then using the package list from the Refracta iso:

Code: Select all
for i in $(cat package_list); do
   echo -e "\n Installing $i.. \n" && apt install -y --force-yes $i |tee install.log;
done

Some packages will fail but done like that, the process will continue. The log will show the problem ones.

After coping over /home/user, /usr/share/themes and a few others it looks and behaves just like Refracta! With it's quad core and 1G RAM performance is quite good (except graphics acceleration, video playback is unusable).

Maybe one of us will do a proper armhf image at some point.

What's the difference between the arm and x86 versions? Is it just the kernel?

What kind of storage is used for the OS? USB? SD? (I see it. mmc) I ask because the latest version of refractainstaller will detect and use mmc devices. I did that for testing, because I was adding support for nvme disks, and I don't have any nvme to test. Been curious to know if there are any uses for that addition with a pi.

Different arch, different cpu, different kernel. Packages need to be compiled for it, on that platform or a suitably configured vm. Debian/Devuan have normal apt repos.

Uses micro-sd =< 64GB for the OS. Bootloaders like grub don't work nor will installers as we know them. You need to dd an image. There are also 3 normal usb ports, I don't know if you can do the OS from there.

Beyond that, not got to know it much yet. I have a van (RV) with photovoltaics, the pi will be mainly for off-grid use this summer (5 volts, ~10 watts or less).

It uses " TF " to download and install distribution and it has 64 ...possessor,that is why i think i can easily install Refracta 8.3.

No, you can't run refracta on this device unless you do it the way dzz did it (or some similar way).

Also, in the future, if you want to ask how to do something, please post in the Help section. This section is for tutuorials, where you give instructions on how to do something. Thanks. (I will move this thread and your other one to the Help section later.)
