wheezy-based refracta beta2 is ready

Postby fsmithred » Sun Nov 18, 2012 12:52 pm

direct link to the iso: http://distro.ibiblio.org/refracta/test ... 7_2253.iso

If you have the beta1 iso, you can get beta2 faster with zsync. From the same directory as the beta1, do:
Code: Select all
zsync -i refracta-wheezy-beta2-20121117_2253.iso http://distro.ibiblio.org/refracta/testing/refracta-wheezy-beta2-20121117_2253.iso.zsync

Added wireless-tools, wpasupplicant, gvfs-backends, dmz-cursor-themes, xdg-utils, gnome-keyring, latest versions of refractasnapshot and refractainstaller, grub-doctor, a bunch of xfce themes from xfce-look.org, removed murrine themes and xfwm4-themes.

Great! It wasn't on fsmithred's list so I had to ask. Since beta1 has had some major problems for me after updates etc, I guess it's time to try beta2.

Just installed to hard disk. Seemed the expert install was set up a little differently and improved. That annoying light on the keyboard is back. x seems a little flakey. May have to try nvidia driver again. Will start adding programs later and hope it doesn't break again.

The expert install looks different, because the script is using Yad instead of Zenity. There are actually two scripts in the refractainstaller-gui package - one for yad, and one for zenity. The .desktop file (i.e. when you choose Refracta Installer from the System menu) runs a wrapper script (refractainstaller-wrapper.sh) that checks to see if yad or zenity is installed. Yad is the first choice, and Zenity is the fallback.

From the command line, 'refractainstaller-gui' runs the older, zenity-based script, and 'refractainstaller-yad' runs the yad version.

Refractasnapshot will also use yad in preference to zenity, but there's only one script using the code that dzz contributed. (I think it's in the zenity-bloat thread.)
